The Artist

Younha is a talented young Korean and Japanese artist who has had much success in her singing career. She started playing piano at the age of 4, when she also began to develop an interest in Japanese and taught herself. After becoming fluent in it, she began to listen to Japanese artists such as Utada Hikaru and Misia.

However, she didn't always have success- she went to as many as 20 auditions and was often turned down because they thought she wasn't "pretty". Even her mother discouraged her dream, locking her in her room and forcing her to climb out of her window. Soon she was signed on a Korean label and she then began going back and forth between Japan and Korea, landing her a position on a Japanese label as well.

Her nickname is the "Oricon comet", because of her success in Japan which caused her to rank on the Oricon chart. She is a very unique musician for her abilities in Korean and Japanese, and has had her songs featured in many anime episodes, causing her success to skyrocket.
